Could you become a Business Mentor and have a positive impact on helping support Prison Leavers through challenges & into employment?
Well if so then Going Forward into Employment has a great opportunity for you!
Going Forward into Employment have teamed up with Antz Junction and New Futures Network (Ministry for Justice) to provide these opportunities through their Made in Britain Campaign, as part of our work to provide life chance opportunities to Prison Leavers in the Civil Service.
Supported by the £20m Local Leadership Integration Fund, Made Inside Britain is a campaign to support prison leavers into sustainable employment in the North West (but as a virtual mentor you can be based anywhere).
An integral part of the campaign is to provide wrap-around support to those leaving prison as they progress through the gate and integrate back into society. Business mentoring is an additional layer of support offered to prison leavers.
Interested in becoming a business mentor? You could help someone on their pathway into work, potentially even working to recommend them for Civil Service roles as they develop.
The opportunity to become a business mentor is open to all Civil Servants, so please consider this as a personal opportunity and share this with colleagues who may also be interested.
It's a great opportunity, not just to help society and ultimately reduce re-offending, it can be a great way to support your own development and career pathway, increasing your contribution to your department. You will receive full training and support upfront (Approx 1.5 days) and through the ongoing commitment of around half a day a month.
Training will be provided virtually by Antz Junction and meetings between you and your mentee will also be virtual - so you can be based anywhere and plan this around your commitments.
Here are a few quotes from those who have already taken part:
“Its all down to you who have helped me rebuild my life and helped me live a better life. I owe you so much, I can’t say thank you enough. A life changing journey which I have undertaken within just 6 months” - Prison Leaver
“It great to be involved with something that enriches your own wellbeing, feeling part of something bigger. I would encourage others to get involved as society needs it!’’ - Business Mentor
“Its great seeing people improve in confidence and learn new skills and growing! It has really helped me to grow and develop and to understand people a lot better, each person is different, but that’s the fun of it!!" - Business Mentor
