Welcoming new schemes to the GFiE Recruitment Pathway

In Going Forward into Employment (GFiE) we develop, run and support life chance recruitment pathways across the civil service. In fact we’ve been helping departments and agencies recruit talented people across the UK and NI since 2018 - that’s seven years and definitely something we will celebrate this year!

But first - we have other exciting news we want to share. We have three new schemes joining the GFiE Recruitment Pathway.

1.GFiE Civil Service Masterclass, enhancing social mobility for the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) and other departments in Liverpool, Greater Manchester, County Durham and Darlington locations. Also being adapted and replicated in the West Midlands with a cross section of departments providing jobs.

2. GFiE Stepping into Communications, supporting individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds with an accessible entry route into the communications profession.

3. GFiE Pathways to STEM Programme, supporting underrepresented groups by providing employment with integrated education and technical skills development.

With the GFiE pathways, the civil service leads the way as an employer, signalling what is possible when you collaborate to make a difference.

You can find a full list of currently accredited pathways (including for carers, veterans, care experienced people, autistic people and people from low SEB backgrounds) at Civil Service Careers GFiE Schemes page.

Finally this month is the UK’s biggest awareness raising campaign for fostering - Foster Care Fortnight will run from 12 – 25 of May 2025. It’s a great way for us all to learn more about this important support service for young people.

GFiE also has two schemes that provide roles to help care experienced young people begin their career:

Friends of GFiE  - please enjoy Spring and all it brings, and watch out for our next Blog 🙂in June.
